About Mike Sears
I consider it an honor to have so many good people welcome me into their lives and to share in their wedding day. I just want to walk into every wedding with the viewpoint of a friend that has been welcomed in to this gathering, and do my very best to photograph what’s taking place there.
With a background in writing, I took to photography as an extension of my pursuit of getting the story. I am constantly looking to capture spontaneous moments in a way that is authentic and timeless. My style is journalistic and classic. I like to capture the natural flow of the events, reactions, and emotions as they unfold throughout the day. I believe that photographs serve as your visual heritage long after we are all gone — images live on.
I live in Exeter, NH with my wife and daughter. I enjoy reading, documentaries, nature, New England, fly fishing, and too many podcasts to count.
I am a Certified Professional Photographer (CPP), a credential I earned from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA).
I was an English Literature major and still love reading. Some of my faves:
A Prayer for Owen Meany, John Irving
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, Haruki Murakami
The Secret History, Donna Tartt
Angle of Repose, Wallace Stegner
Middlesex, Jeffrey Eugenides
The Stars My Destination, Alfred Bester
The Lake of Dead Languages, Carol Goodman
I love quaint New England Inns.
I am addicted to honesty.
