Kelsey || Applecrest Orchards
I honestly cannot believe I never blogged this shoot I did with Kelsey. Looking back on it has given me a bit of perspective that only the passage of time can bring. This was back in May of 2021. Covid was raging. Nobody was leaving their homes. Most people adorned themselves with fear and anxiety like garments, their every movement veiled in the fabric of apprehension.
We made this shoot happen despite all of this—maybe more in spite of it all, actually.
Looking back, I love this shoot. Way more so now than I did even when I shot it. I’m not certain what that’s about.
I loved the sea of flowering apple blossoms.
I loved the late day warmth and the direction and quality of light we got to work with.
I loved the bees that were enjoying the flowers as much as we were.
I loved the smell of the long grass and the slight breeze.
I loved Kelsey’s sprit, her grace, and her willingness to work with me to create something beautiful in the midst of a world that was losing its collective mind at the time.
Making art amidst adversity felt a little rebellious back in May 2021. Now I see it as something we had to do — capturing the resilience, hope and beauty of another human being felt great then and feels even better now.
Keep fighting. Keep making art. Keep moving forward.
